As the Circuit Breaker slowly draws to a much-awaited close, many Singaporeans have begun leaving their homes once again, in what’s deemed as Phase 1 of the ‘social restoration’ plan.
And while this means a lot of things, I just wanna focus on one:
Dressing.
See, with facial masks now considered a necessity, the focus of attention has naturally shifted from the lower face region to other parts of the human profile:
Eyes and ears.

In April, it was announced that Esprit will be shutting down all its stores in Asia, save for those in Mainland China: all 56 company-run stores situated in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau will be closed.
According to Inside Retail Asia, the decision comes after a nosedive in sales during the last nine months. The March quarter, when the Covid-19 outbreak hit, served as a finishing blow of sorts for the already crippled group.
Esprit has since stated that the Asian store closures are part of a “restructuring initiative to focus resources and recalibrate operations in order to cope with the challenges posed by the pandemic most effectively and efficiently”.
However, the company will continue to run wholesale and licensing businesses in the Asian market, through avenues like department stores and multi-brand stores.

All 16 of Esprit’s stores in Singapore are facing temporary closure in phase 1 of the country’s reopening plans, but it’s unknown when the transition to ‘for-life’ will be implemented.
