So it has been announced on Monday (3 Apr 2017) that ComfortDelgro will be providing a new flat-fare option for commuters. To make things simpler for you, we have picked up important details for you in this article to facilitate your understanding.
Here’s everything you need to know about the flat taxi fares in 60 seconds!
Flat ComfortDelgro Taxi Fares
The new flat-fare option computes a fare based on existing surcharges by taking into account the distance to be travelled. It is only made available through the ComfortDelgro mobile application. Once you choose the option, there won’t be extra surcharges unless you change destination point or make any unplanned stops along the way.
Unlike the metered-fare option, travel delays due to traffic jams would not add to the fare. Of course, commuters who prefer the metered-fare option may continue to opt for it. Just take note that the flat-fare option will not be available for street hail, advanced booking and premium taxi services.
Competitive Edge
This will surely provide a competitive edge against other services offered by Grab and Uber.
When there is a competition, there might be a possibility of a price war among the operators. Perhaps they might innovate instead and come up with more creative ways to capture the market share. More…promo codes, perhaps?
On the other hand, it really depends on the commuters’ preferences. You might prefer to flag taxis on the streets, while I might prefer to opt for Uber due to their aggressive discounting strategies. Hey, whatever works for you, buddy.
Slowly but surely, ComfortDelGro is taking its time to make adjustments to develop the right formula for their dynamic pricing. Does the flat-fare option work for you or nah?
