Private-hire drivers are getting more and more innovative nowadays.
One, for example, offered beer and cigarettes in his car. A dream come true for some, I’m sure.
Another had an assortment of treats in his car, including sweets and wafer bars.
And now, someone had the bright idea of offering a Karaoke System in his car.
Yeah, I kid you not. You can now sing on the way home.
James Corden’s carpool karaoke, in real life, babe!
The “Pirate”
Meet the “Pirate”, a musician/Grab driver who offers free singing sessions in his car.
What’s more; he makes it a point to upload the more outstanding ones on his personal Facebook page!
The Pirate Car Show
Called the “Pirate Car Show”, the Facebook page uploads a series of videos on a routine basis, including cover videos by passenger.
Grab Rider made me shed tears in the Pirate Car
It is amazing how many talented singers there are in Singapore. Jonathan booked a Grab to head back home.I asked if he enjoyed singing and he shyly agreed to perform for us on The Pirate Car Show! In this video, he sings a heart wrenching mandarin number from Gary Chaw.Get your tissues ready! You have been warned!

Going on a date these days is never the same when you hop onto The Pirate Car! Kai and Yen Ru ordered a Grab, never to expect a “Car-aoke” session to happen during the ride.It is sweet to witness young couples in love in my journey as a Grab driver. I wish Kai and Yen Ru a blessed journey together. May wedding bells ring soon! 😍

Damn, if I wasn’t blown away!
Anyway, the “Pirate” also uploads personal music covers on the page.
And as it turns out, he’s absolutely slaying the covers too.
The "Pirate" sings "Home" written by Dick Lee and performed by Kit Chan on Smule. I am on the lookout for people who may be sporting enough when they take my ride to sing to an instrumental of "Home" performed by a talented local musician Javin Tham http://www.youtube.com/javinthamThis is this week's adventure for the Pirate… Stay Tuned!

Purpose
According to the About section in the Facebook page, the idea was borne by a want to showcase talents from all walks of life.
“Driving Grab has led me to meeting many people from all walks of life. Inside everyone of them are set of talents, strengths and that little sunshine,” the page stated.
“This page is where I showcase those who allow me to share these moments.
“I also seek to improve the quality of the rides across the Uber and Grab community through “educational” videos that hopefully can create more awareness about how riders and drivers feel.”
Where do I sign up?
There’s no official sign up page, but you can always try contacting “The Pirate” directly at his Facebook page.
No idea whether he accepts personal requests, however.
Nevertheless, this is an undoubtedly fantastic idea, and would surely make a passenger’s dull, routine ride back home more interesting and lively. That is, unless you’re an absolutely killjoy when you sing (like me) and like to stone on the way home (like me).
Now, fellow private-hire drivers, there’s no need to panic. Such a thing is absolutely not mandatory.
But hey, you gotta admit; it’s a good concept.
And it could just roll in the dough too.
