When you are a celebrity, every detail of your personal life will be scrutinized by the world, even your dirty laundry.
This is more prominent when you are a global superstar or dating the grandson of Hong Kong tycoon, Wong Kwok Sing.
Well, G.E.M. is both and here’s why this article exists.
G.E.M. Responds to Rumours of Her Breaking Up With Her Boyfriend
G.E.M. , a singer from Hong Kong whose real name is Gloria Tang, is rumoured to have broken up with her stylist boyfriend, Mark Ngai, a few months ago.
They were together for five years, ever since she was about 25 years old.
The tip-off was cited from a reader of Hong Kong newspaper, Oriental Daily News (ODN).
G.E.M.’s Response
In response to the rumour, Tang posted a picture on her social media pages, asking everyone to “stop eating melons as they are not nutritious”.
“Eating melons” is another phrase for consuming gossip in the Chinese slang.
She then directed the attention to her new song, “Time to Go Back”, which would be released on 21 Dec.
The picture shows a man and woman holding hands with the words, “Let me return to the start, let me love you all over again.” The picture is believed to be a teaser of her new song.
It is unsure if this new song is inspired by the alleged breakup.
In short, we are back to square one for Tang did not confirm nor deny the breakup.
Mark Ngai’s Response
Since Tang did not answer the question, ODN went to the other party of the relationship, Ngai. However, Ngai merely responded with the two overused words: “No comment.”
When asked about other rumours, Ngai only responded with, “Sorry, thank you.”

Last Seen Together On Social Media: August
Tang and Ngai were last seen together in a social media post four months ago, on 16 Aug. It was a group photo where family members and friends gathered for her birthday, and interestingly, they were not standing next to each other in the photo.

Mark Ngai’s Birthday
Unlike the previous years, Tang did not wish Ngai on social media on his birthday. Instead, she posted a scenic shot on the eve of his birthday.

The shot also had Chinese words which read, “Remember how well others treated you, and forget how well you have treated others.”
A fan questioned her if that was part of her new song but Tang replied this was merely part of her life experiences.
Mark Ngai Returned to Hong Kong by Himself
As Ngai was part of Tang’s stylist, it is only natural that they will travel together during Tang’s show, right?
Well, that’s not the case for Ngai as he returned to Hong Kong alone last month while Tang was still in China.
