Go Go Power Rangers!
For many, reading the above without playing a background sound in your head is hard.
After all, Power Rangers was our childhood.
Unfortunately, there has recently been some sad news regarding the legendary show.
Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank dies at 49
Jason David Frank, the original green Power Ranger, has died at age 49, as confirmed by TMZ on 20 November.
His cause of death was allegedly suicide.
The actor and mixed martial artist died in Texas.
As one of six crime-fighting superheroes, he is best known as Tommy Oliver from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers franchise that hit the screens in 1993.
Power Ranger
The Power Rangers series was Frank’s acting debut.
When he started off in Season 1, he was the Green Ranger and was introduced as an enemy of the Power Rangers. Slowly throughout the show, he would turn good and become the White Ranger to lead the group.
Originally, he was only meant to appear in 14 episodes, but was so loved by fans that he went on to be one of the leads for three seasons, or 123 episodes.
As Frank reprised his role as Tommy, he played the Red Ranger, Black Ranger, and ultimately went back to Green Ranger as well.
Apart from playing the famous Power Ranger, he was also in an episode of We Bare Bears, playing the Silver Bear.
News of His Death
News of Frank’s passing was first released by his personal trainer and close friend, Mike Bronzoulis, via Facebook.
In the tribute, Bronzoulis called Frank his “brother from another mother”.
Hinting towards his suicide, Bronzoulis wrote, “I’m feeling terrible he called left me a message and I took too long.”
Frank’s representative made a statement to confirm the news: “Unfortunately, it is true. Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being.”
