Thinking of going to A&W Jewel?

Up till last year, 2018, I never really understood the whole A&W craze.

“What’s with your obsession over A & W?” I once questioned my colleagues early last year. Back then, A & W‘s return was not confirmed. “Isn’t it just.. you know, another fast food outlet? With root beer, you can buy from any vending machine?”

In response, they simply stared at me, before one said: “You’re still young. You won’t understand.”

Fast forward to end 2018, and I was on a short getaway to Johor Bahru with my friends. Having stumbled upon a random A & W outlet located in the outskirts of I-don’t-remember-where, we ended up heading in for a snack.

“Time to understand the whole craze, huh?” I said to myself. Steeling myself, I took my first bite of their beef coney cheese dog, twister fries and right after, a sip of their root beer float.

…

Damn, it was instantaneous.

“This…” I uttered with my hair flying all of a sudden. “This is the A&W craze I’ve been missing out on.”

And guess what?

It seems that I’ve reawakened just in time, as Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport has re-introduced a long lost favourite to all the 90s kids out there:

An honest to goodness A & W outlet.

Thanks to the folks in Mothership.sg, we now get to see what to expect.

Located at #B2-209, the 24-hour A&W Jewel outlet attracted long, snaking lines of diners on its opening day.

And for good reason too, considering how it’s not just good ol’ nostalgia in play (though that’s definitely a major factor);

The menu boasts some legitimately sumptuous items as well!

Their signature coney dogs, for one, have returned to the starting line-up.

Additionally, a range of burgers, including the likes of cream cheese burgers, double cheeseburgers, marina fish sandwiches and more will be available too.

Prices commence from S$3.90 for an ala carte item.

Should you have a distinctly sweet tooth, A&W Jewel will also be stocking up some good ol’ waffles with ice-cream, as well as sundaes, to satiate your appetites. Waffles with ice-cream will cost S$7.50, and sundaes S$4.90.

And naturally, no A & W experience will be complete without one of their towering Root beer floats, which you can procure at S$3.50.

Meal sets, on the other hand, come at S$5.90, and their ‘great tasting snacks’ will start from S$3.60.

Awesome? Awesome.
