We are no stranger to Wang Leehom’s sagas for his messy separation from ex-wife Lee Jingwei has been widely publicised.
Despite being surrounded by grave scandals, there is an opinion that “he did the best he could”.
Kong Suet Fa Says Jet Li Is “Worse”
Former beauty queen and Hong Kong actress Kong Suet Fa has uploaded a 4-minute video onto Youtube on 29 Jan 2022.
In her video, the 73-year-old said:
“Some people have labelled Wang Leehom as a scoundrel because of his marriage scandal.
“This led me to think there are many of these guys in showbiz. One of them is Jackie Chan, and another is Jet Li.”
For a bit of background context, Jet Li is a Chinese film actor, producer and former Wushu champion who is involved in the production of many famous films such as Shaolin Temple and Fist of Legend, he won great acclaim in China.
Jet married martial arts actress Huang Qiuyan back in 1987. The couple had two daughters together.
However, by 1990, the marriage ended when he met former actress Nina Li. They married each other in 1999 and had two daughters.
Huang Barely Gets By In Los Angeles
Following the divorce, Huang settled in the States and earned a living as a beautician. In the video, Suet Fa recounted how she once went to Los Angeles to perform. With the knowledge that Huang is living there, she invited her to the show.
However, Huang declined and told her that “ I only have three clients. If I were to go to your show, I’d have to cancel an appointment with one of them and risk losing the client. I’m unable to afford a living from working with my two remaining clients.”
Suet Fa also found out that for the past three years, Huang hasn’t been back to China to visit her two daughters. The reason? She could not afford plane tickets.
Hit by a wave of empathy, Suet Fa wondered why Jet Li did not assist her financially — especially when he was already making big bucks as a widely acclaimed actor and producer.
Wang Leehom Is Already Doing His Best
Pitting Wang Leehom against Jet Li, Suet Fa espoused that Wang is doing right by providing substantial financial support to ex-wife Li Jinglei and their children.
She brings in the example of how Wang had let Li take ownership of their flat.
She then added that “Leehom did all that he could. He’s not a tycoon; he’s a singer. Compared to Jet, he did way better.”
