The term “kiasu” roughly means the “fear of missing out” and it can be used as an adjective here to describe people who have once again queued for the newest iPhone, the iPhone 14.
Although it is good and cool to have the latest technology, some may argue that queuing for it overnight may be a little bit over the top.
People Flew in From Overseas
Apparently, some even flew in from neighbouring countries just to purchase the new iPhone.
This is because Singapore has an earlier release date for the new iPhone as compared to other countries.
According to 8World News, the queue at the Courts in The Heeran started on 15 Sep at 6pm, a day before its launch.
The queue at Courts was seemingly very long due to the neighbouring Apple store not allowing customers to queue outside of their shop prior to the iPhone’s release.
For a person to be able to get the iPhone from the Apple Store, the would have to pre-order the product.
Video Depicts the Crowd at Courts
In a video posted on TikTok, we can clearly see the entrance of Courts being filled with people of various ethnicity, both standing and sitting patiently in line.
Some even brought along their luggage to camp for the new iPhone.

Large Crowd at Apple Store on Launch Day
Despite not being able to queue for the iPhone outside the Apple Store, customers flocked to the store on the morning of the launch day.
Apparently, these people are those who have pre-ordered their iPhones, and are just waiting outside for collection.
iPhones are In-stock Online
At the time of writing, the various iPhone models are still available on the Apple Website.
For those who do not mind heading down to the Apple Store for a pick up, they can receive the phone the very next day upon purchase.
For those who would prefer the iPhone to be delivered to their doorsteps, it would take five days.
Each customer is only allowed to purchase up to two iPhones.
