For all those who didn’t queue overnight for the iPhone 8 and 8 plus and have been diligently waiting for the release of iPhone X, I have bad news.
iPhone X will be available on November 3 in Singapore but that might be pushed back to a further date.
According to an article by Today newspaper, Apple is facing production delays as they are having issues with the 3-D manufacturing process.
Knew it!
Should have seen it as a tell-tale sign when Apple’s Paul Schiller failed to unlock the phone using the Face ID on his first attempt.
Unable to Reach Adequate Production Levels For Components
According to the Nikkeri, a Japan newspaper, makers are struggling to reach adequate production level for the components needed for facial recognition.
To add on, the Wall Street Journal reported that the delay is pertaining to the assembly of equipment used to project the 30,000 infrared dots onto a user’s face to map its characteristic.
By the way, the reports were cited from unidentified people which are kind of odd.
Digitimes, Taipei-based publication mentioned that Apple asked suppliers to withhold some shipments and only 40% of the parts were sent over (cited from unidentified people as well)
Apparently, this isn’t their first setback.
They have faced delays in regards to the new display technology, made from organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). Only a handful of factories manufacture OLED panels and they are mostly owned by their competitor, Samsung Display.
Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller declined to comment.
I mean, the facial recognition is probably one the iPhone X’s main selling point. Can you imagine buying the phone and it ends up not recognizing you?
I will probably go bonkers if that ever happens.
So Apple please take your time (not too long) because we wouldn’t want to send our phones back due to some mishap.
Meanwhile, this promo will have to do.
