No, AV doesn’t mean Audio-Visual in this case. Think harder.
Japanese TikToker’s Career Change
Unapi, a Japanese TikToker and AV actress, recently filmed a YouTube video with fellow AV actress Ai Uehara.
And, oh, if you still haven’t figured out what AV represents, here it is: Adult Video.
In the video, both women discussed various parts of the AV industry and their thoughts about them.
Just an FYI, the self-pleasure and adult goods market in Japan was worth 181 billion Japanese yen in 2019. That’s a lot and makes the industry (understandably) one that people will want to be a part of.
Unapi also mentioned why she had ventured into the AV industry after being a TikTok star.
Unapi’s TikTok career
Unapi started her career as a TikTok content creator and currently has 3.7 million followers on the video-sharing platform.
The content on her TikTok account includes clips of her posing in seductive poses, being dressed in revealing outfits, and other videos in the same vein such as this one:
@unpai3この水着w♬ The Little Mermaid (Marimba Remix) – Harry Goes Boom!
You get what I mean. I don’t think I have to elaborate further.
I think everyone also understands why she’s so popular now.
She also had an Instagram account (@_maria.holic_) that she used to post similarly styled photos, and her account boasted more than 337,000 followers.
However, it seems like as of today, the account is currently unavailable for viewing.

Why Unapi Made the Switch
In the seven-minute-long video, Unapi explained that she decided to kickstart her career as an AV actress by making use of the brand and reputation she had earned herself through TikTok.
Describing her new job as a “dream come true”, she also claimed that it was not due to the financial wealth that it brought her, as her influencer job was already bringing in enough income.
Instead, she chose this career path as she felt that it was a “more mature” job, and also “a wonderful profession to save men”.
Apart from how she thinks that the AV industry can positively affect men, she also said that she was encouraged to make the switch in the spirit of carpe diem – seizing the day and not leaving any regrets.
