Today is supposed to be the first day that Jeff Ng would busk when The Cathay Cineplex has ceased operations.
It’s also the first day that he’d busk after accusations about his attitude towards his audiences and ex-girlfriend were posted online.
Suffice to say, reporters have suited up and ready to ask the tough questions, and busybodies like us would like to see if he’s still have the angelic voice after a stressful week.
Well, odds of him cancelling the performance are high, and cancel he did: but according to him, it wasn’t due to the saga.
And no, it’s not due to the closure of The Cathay Cineplex, too.
Jeff Ng Cancelled Today’s Performance (2 July) But It’s Not Due to His Latest Saga
Earlier today, he had made his Instagram private after an influx of new followers.
Considering that he had just made his apology on Instagram just yesterday, it is indeed a weird move.
But it’s about to get weirder.
Hours before his scheduled busk, he set his Instagram to public again, and posted an Instagram Story.
Here’s what he wrote:
Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, with a few of my close contacts contracting COVID-19 as well, I’ve decided to cancel today’s busk after a discussion with my team.
I sincerely wanted to sing with everyone, but given the current situation, we hope that everyone stay safe instead. Thank you so much for your support!
Oh, well, at least we know it won’t be crowded outside The Cathay Cineplex, and journalists who had to work OT today can rest well tonight instead.
