If you’re a frequent visitor of Jurong Point, you might’ve noticed a small, innocuous unit undergoing renovation.
If you were even more observant, you’ll see that it’s covered in the familiar IKEA colours.
Well, it’s now open, although if you were hoping to have meatballs right in your neighbourhood, you’re going to be disappointed.
IKEA Has Opened High-Tech Interior Design Studio in Jurong Point With Packages from $9,900
The outlet at Jurong Point is IKEA’s first-of-its-kind standalone studio created in collaboration with Livspace, a Bangalore-based interior design firm.
On Livspace’s website, it calls itself “IKEA’s official renovation partner in Singapore” and have a presence in IKEA’s Alexandra and Tampines outlets.
The outlet, according to IKEA Singapore, will provide customers with a “brand-new shopping experience” comprising of end-to-end personalised home interior design, renovation and planning services.
A Showroom
The unit, about 100 metres big, is essentially a showroom for a 3-room HDB flat, specially curated to address the problem of living in a small space.
You can expect to see smart storage solutions, space-saving kitchens and fitted wardrobes.
Don’t worry, you won’t be seeing the same old design forever.
Similar to the IKEA stores, the outlet will refresh its interior decor and furnishings periodically throughout the year.
That’s not the only unique thing about this store, however.
Using Technology For Interior Designing
For the first time in Singapore, IKEA and Livspace are introducing the Smartphoto experience, Livspace Smartphotos, to new homeowners looking for their dream homes.
Basically, there’ll be QR codes in the different rooms of the store.
Scan them and you’ll be able to virtually change the products and styles in the room.
But that’s not the coolest part.
As you change the style and furnishings to your heart’s content, the price of your selections will be continuously updated so you’ll know whether you’ve exceeded your budget or not.
The new tool is said to be ready in the coming weeks.
Packages Starting From S$9,900
According to interior design section on IKEA’s website, prices for their Ready-to-move-in packages for HDB BTO flats starts from S$9,900.
That’s for a 2-room flat.
For 3-room flats, prices start from S$12,500, 4-room flats from S$15,600, and for 5-room flats, from S$16,000.
You can check out their packages here.
Opening Specials
From 13 to 26 Jan 2021, the first 500 walk-in customers will get a free IKEA Jurong Point Planning Studio goodie bag.
And for those who spent above $10,000 on renovations with Livspace, they will get a chance to spin the wheel for sure-win prizes.
IKEA members will also get 5% off their total bill when renovating with Livspace. This promo is valid until 31 Dec 2021.
5% doesn’t sound like a lot but when it’s applied to a bill of S$10,000? That’s $500.
A One-Stop Solution
A quick peek at one of their packages showed that Livspace is determined to make your single stop at IKEA a one-stop solution.
From interior design to contractors, they also have insurance and even financing options from their partner bank, Maybank, to solve every problem you might face during, and after, the renovation.
There’s also a one-year return period for any IKEA products that you are not satisfied with.
You can check out their website here for more information.
