Move over Uber and Grab – ComfortDelGro wants you to know it’s still the king of Singapore’s taxi industry.
Just this month, Moove Media, NETS, and ComfortDelGro partnered up for a campaign which they dubbed “Free InterNETS”.
Basically, ComfortDelgro taxis have been turned into mobile Wifi hotspots, which means: free internet on the go. It’s exactly as glorious as it sounds. Who needs a 12GB data plan now?

These taxis are easily spotted through the red and white InterNETS decals on the sides.
If you do manage to get into one, just switch on your phone’s Wifi, select “Free InterNETS” under the list of networks available, and you’re ready to start surfing. Simple? You bet.
In case you’re really that bad with technology, “Free InterNETS” taxis come with step-by-step instructions to guide you in setting up the Wifi connection. But we doubt anyone’s going to need it.
Here’s the catch: this free Wifi service is only available on 100 taxis, and ends in January 2017. And according to their website, ComfortDelgro has 17,000 taxis roaming the roads of Singapore right now.
Which basically means that you only have six months, on top of a 1:170 chance to get on one with the free Wifi hotspot. Talk about finding a needle in a haystack.
But who knows – judging from how competitive the taxi industry is, Uber and Grab might just be the next ones to take up this initiative.
