K-Pop fans, get excited.
The Southeast Asian headquarters of the South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment is set to be in Singapore.
Further, you now have a chance to be part of a Singapore K-Pop group as well.
Here’s everything you need to know about it.
SM Entertainment Setting Up Headquarters in Singapore
The South Korean entertainment company confirmed the setting up of headquarters in Singapore, as part of its expansion plans in the region – and that’s not all.
The K-Pop agency also confirmed their recruitment plans in Singapore.
That’s right – you could be the next big K-Pop idol, if you’re talented enough.
Perhaps all those hours spent learning TikTok dances in your room, or the hours spent duetting pop song covers will finally come in handy.
Last month, SM Entertainment founder Soo-Man Lee shared that the agency recruits and produces the dashing K-Pop idols you see today using a tool called the “Culture Technology” system.
Through this system, potential singers and dancers like you will go through a few stages, namely casting, training, marketing/management and producing.
The system was developed by Lee himself.

Those who really want to be part of a K-Pop group, here’s your golden ticket. Lee added that if the opportunity arose, he would be keen on creating a K-Pop group, NCT Singapore.
However, it remains to be seen whether plans for the above have already been set in motion.
You can take your chances.
Hiring Local Talents
The Singapore headquarters will manage joint ventures in neighbouring nations like Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. It will also be liaising directly with SM Entertainment’s South Korea office for other related ventures and plans.
The K-Pop agency declined to reveal how much the company is investing in its headquarters in Singapore.
Withholding information? Playing hard to get – we see you, SM.
The entertainment company however, did reveal that it is in the process of hiring more local talents to increase the number of full-time staff at the headquarters.
Even if you’re not looking to be the next big star, you could still put your skills to good use with SM Entertainment.
The company is looking at hiring local undergraduates or fresh graduates for internships as well.
SM Entertainment also plans to launch retail businesses here, so you can look forward to cafes, merchandise stores and pop-up exhibitions.
The company is also looking to gradually expand to other regions in Southeast Asia, as well as other regions in the continent including the Middle East.
