The Progress Singapore Party may have only been a year old when they contested in the 2020 general election, but they put up quite a fight, to say the least.
Contesting in West Coast GRC, PSP garnered 48% of the votes. This allowed them to claim the two Non-constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) seats in parliament, which are currently taken by Leong Mun Wai and Hazel Poa.
It’s not been smooth sailing since then for the opposition party, with former member Brad Bowyer having a very public spat with then-fellow member Kala Manickam over COVID-19 measures.

Bower later resigned in August after comparing vaccination-differentiated measures with the Holocaust.
Now, another PSP member has stepped down, but for more conventional reasons.
PSP Treasurer, Kayla Low, Stepped Down from Party But Will Remain as a Volunteer
Treasurer of PSP Kayla Low has stepped down from her role in the party, PSP announced in a Facebook post yesterday (25 Oct).
Ms Low cited “heavy work commitments in her new job” as the reason for her departure. Detailing her departure in a Facebook post, Ms Low said her new job required her to take long business trips.
“…because of the nature of the new job, it’ll be difficult for me to attend to party’s treasury matters in an efficient and effective way,” she wrote.
However, she will remain involved with the party as a volunteer.
It was only seven months ago in March that Ms Low was elected to PSP’s central executive committee (CEC). She was appointed treasure just a few days later.

She’s also an entrepreneur and business owner of five local companies dealing with consulting, accounting services, investments, wholesale, food & beverage, and online businesses.
She volunteers with low-income families and the elderly in her spare time as well.
Party’s Response
In their announcement, PSP thanked Ms Low for her contributions to the company and wished her all the best for her future endeavors.

“We would like to thank Kayla for her contributions to the Treasury function and her unstinting support of PSP, and welcome Peggie to her new role,” party chief Francis Yuen said.
In her post, Ms Low said she will continue to support the residents in Yio Chu Kang SMC.
“I joined PSP to serve Singaporeans and it was indeed a fulfilling journey. Many residents have touched my life as I try my best to help as many people as I can,” she wrote. “In my journey in standing up for Singaporeans, I am very thankful for the guidance and mentorship of Dr Tan Cheng Bock. He was instrumental in encouraging me to be a voice for Singaporeans.
“You will still see me on the ground helping the community,” she added.
