New Details Show That Kim Seon-ho Might Have Been the ‘Good Guy’ in the Abortion Saga

Recently, there was a lot of controversy over Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’s male lead, Kim Seon-ho.

Fans of the actor were shocked when the 35-year-old South Korean actor’s ex-girlfriend came forward to say that he forced her into getting an abortion when they were still dating in 2020.

Instead of refuting the claims, he simply apologised, both in public and to her in private. The private apology was made known to the public in a separate post by his ex-girlfriend, and she said that it was a misunderstanding between them.

However, new details from South Korean celebrity news outlet Dispatch show that Kim Seon-ho might have been the “good guy” after all.

The Beginning of Their Relationship

On 26 October, Dispatch published an article that revealed Kim’s ex-girlfriend’s identity. It turned out that she was actually former weathercaster, Choi Young-ah.

The article focuses heavily on Choi’s claims and casts doubts on them. In order to give everyone a clearer picture, Dispatch provided a timeline of the couple’s relationship.

The pair met back in late 2019 through mutual friends and after a few meetings, they began dating exclusively in early March 2020. It was only in mid-March that year that Choi revealed she was actually a divorcee.

Kim was shocked by this but continued dating her despite people around him advising against it.

He said, “I just want to continue seeing her. This relationship started because I liked who she was. I understand my parents might be worried, but to me, her status as a divorcee doesn’t change anything.”

Choi’s Allegations of Kim

Apart from accusing Kim of forcing her to get an abortion, she also accused Kim of other things.

She revealed that they couldn’t date freely in public, that Kim’s attitude towards her changed for the worse after she went through the abortion, and that Kim was very stingy with his money around her.

Casting Doubt on Choi’s Allegations

Dispatch focuses on Choi’s allegations and proceeds to debunk them one by one. The reporters even revealed that she lied to Kim on multiple occasions regarding her secret meetings with other men.

Allegation #1: Couldn’t Date Freely in Public

While Choi claimed that the couple was unable to date freely and do couple-like things like holding hands in public, Dispatch proved that this wasn’t quite true by sharing a photo of the two of them out in public enjoying a date at a pet cafe sometime in October 2020.

Dispatch also said that the couple had gone on “countless dates in Busan, Gapyeong, the zoo, amusement parks, the suburbs, etc”.

Allegation #2: Kim’s Attitude Towards Choi Changed For The Worse After Her Abortion

According to Dispatch, Choi was confirmed to be pregnant on 24 July 2020. She claimed that Kim wasn’t too happy about the news when he found out. In fact, she said his response was “pure trash”.

However, a close friend of the former couple, B, revealed that Kim was actually happy about the pregnancy. He even called it “a blessing” and “good news”, and comforted Choi so that she wouldn’t cry.

The couple considered their options but ultimately decided that it was in everyone’s best interest that Choi went through with the abortion.

Choi went to the hospital for the procedure and was accompanied by B.

Where was Kim?

He was busy buying ingredients to make seaweed soup, a dish that is commonly consumed by Korean women when they are pregnant or have just given birth, for Choi even though he didn’t know how to cook.

After the procedure, Kim continued to cook seaweed soup for Choi for two weeks as his way of helping her feel better.

How do we know if this is true?

Kim spoke about his experience of cooking it on the South Korean variety show 1 Night 2 Days and was able to accurately provide the recipe for it.

In an interview with Choi’s friend, C, it was said that Choi was introduced to Kim’s parents after the procedure. Choi then proceeded to have meals with his family and even slept at his parents’ house.

Allegation #3: Kim Was Stingy With His Money Around Choi

In her post, Choi claimed that Kim gave her KRW2 million (~S$2,299.06) for the abortion and made him seem like a stingy person.

However, according to D, an acquaintance, Choi had received a luxury bag that cost KRW7 million (~S$8,046.70) from Choi during Christmas.

D also said that Kim would pay for the couple whenever they went out.

Alleged Lies Choi Told Kim

Dispatch also showed screenshots about Choi allegedly meeting with other men without Kim’s knowledge. This was a huge issue between the couple and they both ended the relationship once because Kim caught her lying again.

A long text was sent by Choi to Kim on 8 July 2020 apologising for the lies and acknowledging that she had hurt him.

A text conversation between Kim and a friend, A, on 7 July 2020 showed that Kim told his friend about his breakup. Kim said that Choi had secretly gone out to meet other men and Kim caught her in her lies again.

Kim was actually fine with Choi going to clubs and meeting with other men as long as she was upfront with him about it and texted him when she reached home.

After B talked to Kim and persuaded him into getting back together with Choi, Kim forgave Choi and the couple reconciled the following day.

Being Threatened By Choi’s Ex-Husband

In Choi’s post, she also said that people around her ex-husband were threatening her.

However, Dispatch revealed based on Kim’s acquaintance, E, that Kim was the one having a hard time because of her. Kim was “getting threatened by gangsters, her ex-husband’s wife was bothering him, there was a lawsuit against him, and so much more”. This apparently took place between January to April 2021.

E added that Choi had videos and voice recordings in her possession, including videos of Kim’s daily life. Despite Kim finding out about these, the relationship continued until it ended in April.

“Didn’t Want To Argue In The Eyes of The Public”

But if everything Choi said was false, why didn’t Kim clear his name? Why did he willingly risk his reputation and lose all of his current projects instead of refuting her claims?

To this, B simply explained that Kim tried to understand the whole situation from Choi’s perspective. He commented that it is indeed true that they aborted the baby, and that this was someone he once loved. Instead of refuting her claims, he apologised instead, making it seem like he accepted the allegations and that he was guilty of everything. But the truth is that he simply “didn’t want to argue in the eyes of the public”.

B also said, “That’s the kind of person Seon-ho is. The two shared a love and a relationship that was no different from the average relationship. He has never once hid his love or relationship with Ms Choi. I have seen it all.”

Now that so many people have come out to testify against Choi’s allegations, it seems that Kim might actually be the “good guy” after all.

However, according to Allkpop, Kim’s agency, Salt Entertainment, has refused to comment on the Dispatch article.
