The horror movie The Antique Shop, which stars late Singaporean actor Aloysius Pang, will screen on 1 December 2022.
This will be his last performance, according to Shaw Productions.
The movie comes as a trilogy that also features other local actors, Xu Bin and Damien Teo.
The first part, Survive, follows Wadi (played by Indonesian actor Rio Dewanto) who is kidnapped by a rival gang and brought to an abandoned building. He gets tied down to a chair with a very dark history.
The second part, Half Second, follows Ryan (played by Singaporean actor Aloysius Pang) who ended up in prison with no memories of why or how. No matter how hard he screams, no one can hear him.
The final part, Happy Birthday, follows Song (played by Korean actor Bae Jin Young). Long after everyone thought he had returned to Korea, three of his friends receive an invitation to his birthday party where they are the only guests.
Filming Began Since 2018
Pang had actually finished filming some parts of the movie in Thailand and was meant to continue after his reservist military training in New Zealand and another drama filming in Singapore.
However, Pang passed away on 24 January 2019.
Filming was delayed following it and the COVID-19 pandemic also prevented the team from filming further.
But they were able to resume after a while and the film is now ready to be released.
How Did Aloysius Pang Pass Away?
Pang was carrying out repair duties with Military Expert 2 (ME2) Teo and Third Sergeant (3SG) Hubert Wah Yun Teng for a Howitzer that was being used for a training exercise in New Zealand.
A Howitzer refers to a long-ranged weapon that kind of looks like a canon that fires shells on high trajectories at low velocities.
When Pang entered the Howitzer, he stood beside ME2 Teo with his back facing the flick rammer, a part that helps load the “gun” faster.
Pang was still working on the screws when 3SG Wah wanted to put the barrel in standby position.
He shouted, “Standby, clear the way!” to alert Pang but he didn’t move.
3SG still proceeded to move the barrel and that was when the flick rammer started moving toward Pang.
He tried to avoid getting hit by it and ME2 Teo also tried pushing it down to prevent it from extending further.
ME2 Teo tried telling 3SG Wah to press the emergency stop button but to no avail as 3SG Wah was in a state of panic.
ME2 Teo also couldn’t press the emergency stop button near him as he, too, was in a panicked state.
A few seconds later, the flick rammer hit Pang’s lower back and lifted him off the ground. He was pinned against the centre slew ring, a cylindrical structure surrounding the cabin.
As the incident occurred in New Zealand, the Singapore Police Force is unable to conduct investigations into his death.
3SG Wah was fined $5,000 for causing death by a negligent act and fined another $3,000 for a negligent act of endangering life. His rank was also demoted to Corporal.
ME2 Teo was fined $7,000 for pleading guilty to two charges of a negligent act of endangering life and another charge of disobedience of general orders, all under the SAF Act.
