I’ve always believed in love at first sight. After all, that’s what a lot of movies like to portray right?
But in the real world, that doesn’t always happen. Do love stories this romantic still even exist?
Well, our homegrown TV host Lee Teng has proven us all wrong.
Love At First Sight
36-year-old Lee Teng first went public with his 28-year-old Taiwanese girlfriend, Gina Lin, on Valentine’s Day last year.
But of course, everyone was curious as to how he came to meet his girlfriend, especially since she wasn’t in showbiz.
Instead, she moved from Taiwan and currently works in a multinational company here. That already sounds pretty similar to Lee Teng.
He revealed it later on Toggle that it all started when he saw a photo of her on his Instagram explore section. And in an instant, all he could think was how “she was really cute”.
So he probably did a little bit more stalking on her profile, only to find out that she was his younger sister’s, Rainnie’s, friend.
He talked to his sister about Lin and she assured him that she looked “exactly the same” in person as she did in the photos. A valid concern to avoid being catfished.
His sister was “enthusiastic in setting them up” and after pulling a few strings, Lee Teng got together with Lin in October 2018.
Wedding Bells Soon?
Two days ago, on 24 March, Lee Teng posted a series of photos on his Instagram and announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend!
His Instagram post read, “Hi Mrs Lee. This is a simple and warm surprise. I hope to learn from you in the second half of my life. The rest of my life is in your hands.”
Clearly, despite the worsening COVID-19 situation, Lee Teng proves that love will continue to persist even in times of crisis.
This is definitely some news that will brighten up your day amidst the very gloomy news that has been reported lately.
When 8days asked Lee Teng whether he felt like COVID-19 ruined his plans, he explained that he had been planning the proposal since a few months back, which is way before the COVID-19 outbreak started, or at least, worsened. He also said, “We don’t have any confirmed plans on when we’ll be getting married or registering our marriage, but if we do, we’ll definitely share more details with everyone.”
He also said that he decided to propose in a cosy setting because that’s what his girlfriend would have wanted.
As you can see from the photos that he posted, it seems like the proposal was done at home.
He said, “She’s not from showbiz, so she doesn’t like settings that are too large-scale. She’d also feel awkward if I made the proposal overly grand or fancy.”
Well, we would like to congratulate the pair of lovebirds for choosing to embark on a whole other journey with each other.
Other Celebrity Proposals
Lee Teng is the latest one to join the bandwagon of other celebrities proposing to their partners.
Previously, we heard the news of local artiste Benjamin Kheng proposing to his girlfriend, Naomi Yeo. Even two of the actors from Ah Boys To Men, Joshua Ang and Maxi Lim, have also proposed to their partners this year.
Love is definitely in the air, and we hope that everyone continues to spread love, not COVID-19.
Even as you continue to try to live your lives as normally as possible, remember to cherish the ones you love whilst being socially responsible. All of us need to do our part in order to overcome this crisis. But don’t worry, we can do this! In the meantime, stay safe, everyone!
