Lest you’re unaware, the word “road” has an interesting meaning when translated into Chinese. It could either be “路”, an indication of any road in general, or “马路”, a standard reference to roads that cater to vehicles. “马路” also takes on a literal meaning of “Horse Road” in English, which, as you may soon find out…

Isn’t as implausible as society would have you think.

Lost Horse Seen Wandering on BKE, Giving the Word 马路 a Whole New Meaning

It seems that an entity had been, for lack of a better phrase, horsing around on the BKE.

On 8 July 2023, motorists on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) were exposed to an unusual sight:

A brown horse galloping on the expressway.

In a video clip that has since gone viral on social media, the horse could be seen trotting along with nary a care as vehicles go whizzing by.

It eventually halts and turns around to make eye contact with the user in the clip.

However, a classic love story between horse and human does not materialise as the horse slowly makes its way to the side of the vehicle.

A Land Transport Authority Officer eventually escorted the horse off the road.

Numerous versions of the clip have actually been uploaded online, with one garnering over 47K views.

Netizens have also expressed their “concern” for the horse.

The horse was initially believed to have escaped from Turf Club, but one sharp-eyed Netizen noticed that it did not seem like a stereotypical racehorse.

As it turns out, the Netizen was right; the horse reportedly belongs to Bukit Timah Saddle Club.

It should be noted that several Netizens have since expressed genuine concern for the horse.

Not The First Time

Back in August 2021, another horse was caught exploring Vanda Link.

The grey-and-white horse even caused a whole traffic jam, albeit one on a mini scale.

And more recently, in 2022, a black horse was spotted window-shopping at The Grandstand.

Like us, it, too, craved truffle fries and Korean wings at the time. And just like us, it had to, because of dwindling finances, say “Nayyyyy.”
