It’s the first day of CNY, and guess what?
SBS Transit might have forgotten to 拜太岁, because unfortunately, there’s a disruption in their LRT services along Sengkang West Loop this morning.
This video surfaced in social media this morning, and SBS Transit has confirmed with Channel NewsAsia that it happened at 11:10 a.m. today.
This is the line that is affected.
According to Channel NewsAsia, an eyewitness apparently heard a “loud boom” before the vehicle just stalled on the track.
SBS Transit has attributed it to a “power fault”.
According to its spokesperson, “a loud noise was heard due to a dislodged power collector shoe on the LRV. This caused the LRV to stall immediately as a safety feature… Our staff quickly attended to the situation and helped the 15 commuters on board to detrain safely so that they could get to the nearby STC station…Another LRV was used to help push the defective LRT out of the line so that service on the Sengkang West Inner loop could resume.”
Everything was back to normal at 1:00 p.m.
The Sengkang West Loop service started operation in 29 January 2005. Last year, it was announced that the line, together with Punggol LRT line, would be undergoing maintenance works on Sunday mornings from 14 January to 25 February, except 18 February, which is this Sunday (‘coz CNY, so “cheat day”).
Well, it seems like you really can’t have a cheat day.
