Nowadays, clubbing to get wasted has two meanings.

Besides getting drunk and having fun, it is a massive waste of our money. You could easily spend over $100 in a single night.

You have to pay a steep fee to enter the club (Marquee’s entry fees are priced at $40 and above, depending on the event) and hire private hire or taxi rides home after clubbing.

Hiring private ride-sharings or taxis is a nightmare for every club-goer. After the lights turn back on, everyone rushes to the ride-sharing applications to book a ride back home.

The basic principles of the demand-and-supply theory kick in. Not many drivers, but many people want to get home. Surge pricing sends rides to a whooping $40-50.

One 21-year-old clubber decided he had had enough of these expensive rides and cycled home instead—from Clark Quay to Sengkang.

Old Country Roads, Take Me Home

TikTok user Jun Hao posted a 15-second clip of his ride back home on 14 February 2023. He took Budget 2023 very seriously.

Jun Hao rented an Anywheel bike and cycled his merry way home.

Throughout the 89 minutes ride, he also went on a scenic tour overseeing the views of the concrete jungles of Clarke Quay and Geylang, as well as the natural beauties of Punggol Park.

The best part of it all? The ride only cost him $3. He saved a whopping $37.

Not only did he save on his wallet, but he also received other benefits from the ride. He burned over 400 calories, as well as saved carbon emissions. He was doing good not only for himself but for our planet too. He was living up to the song “Save My World“.

Healthy Lifestyle with Cycling

The cyclist will be ready for the upcoming National Steps Challenge on 1 April 2023. If he keeps this up for his future clubbing adventures, he will quickly fulfil the new 30-minute requirement of Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) minutes needed for health points.

Although this is an excellent way to get home as it is easy on our waist and wallet, it can still be dangerous while intoxicated.

Some TikTok users had mixed reactions to his cycling adventure. The top comment called him out for his drunk cycling.

It is vital that we still take caution with our behaviour after drinking. If you are intoxicated and feel drunk, please refrain from participating in activities that could endanger other road users.
