Save for certain circumstances, it’s downright immoral to hit your own father.
Fathers are, after all, the reasons why we can grow up safe and sound, with little to no worries. In addition, they teach us life lessons and cultivate us into better people.
Again, I have to reiterate the phrase “save for certain circumstances”. For reference, you can read this article here.
Man Struck Father Repeatedly with a Walking Stick
On 13 August 2021, Liew Jun Xian was found guilty of failing to turn up at a rehabilitation centre last year.
Yet, that’s not the direst charge he has to contend with.
Apparently, he had struck his own father with the latter’s walking stick.
The reason behind the assault is unknown.
It’s said that he had struck his father multiple times, inflicting numerous injuries in the process.
Apart from a stab wound on the middle finger of his left hand, the victim also sustained cuts on his right shoulder.
The assault will be taken into consideration during sentencing, which is set to occur on 1 September 2021.
Cut Off His Electronic Monitoring Tag
Liew was previously ordered to go through reformative training on 20 July 2016.
On 19 February 2020, he was subjected to a “release on supervision” scheme, where he had to comply with certain conditions.
In exchange, he did not need to stay in a reformative training centre.
For the record, the conditions entail notions such as a curfew and wearing a radio frequency identification electronic monitoring tag.
Liew also had to stay with his father.
Despite being aware of the conditions, he broke his curfew multiple times. And on 24 March 2020, Liew was ordered via notice to report to the Lloyd Leas Community Supervision Centre.
Liew, however, did not turn up. He even moved out of his father’s place of residence and stayed over at his friends’ homes.
In addition, he cut off his electronic monitoring tag.
He only surrendered himself on 31 August 2020.
Thereafter, the assault on his father occurred some four months later.
Assault
Unfortunately, such instances aren’t exactly non-existent.
Sometime in February 2021, a 60-year-old father, Mo JinTian, and his 31-year-old son, Mo LuLong delivered furniture to a customer’s home.
During the moving process, the father inadvertently ran the wheels of a trolley over his son’s right foot.
He also bumped a piece of furniture into the younger man.
Suffice to say; the son did not take it kindly.
Alleging that his father did not apologise, he set out to get even…
With none other than his right fist.
Apparently, he swung his right arm and launched his balled-up fist right into the left side of his father’s face.
Subsequently, on 10 February 2021, the father sought medical attention at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s emergency department due to blurred vision in his left eye.
A scan later revealed that his left upper jawbone and left lower jawbone were fractured.
On 2 March 2021, the father underwent surgery to fix his fractures.
He was discharged the very next day.
The son was eventually convicted on one count of intentionally causing injury, and was sentenced to six months in jail.
