It seems like not another day goes by without news on any animal, child or domestic abuse. Honestly, it pains my heart to read and write about these news articles.
There needs to be more wholesome content to balance out these cruel acts man. Like a gif of a kitten walking up to you and cuddling right next to your hand.
And so here it is before we continue:

Aww.
Anyway, now that we got wholesome out of the way, it’s time to spill the not-wholesome-at-all news.
Potential Animal Abuse?
On a Wednesday evening, 18 September, a passer-by saw a man using his slipper to hit his pet dog at Block 110 Pasir Ris Street 11.
Upon seeing this horrendous act, he immediately took a video and shared it with STOMP. According to him, the man in the video was angry and repeatedly slapping his dog.
However, due to the angle of the video taken, there might be a chance that the man is not hitting the dog. He could be hitting his own thigh to frighten his dog with the sound made.
Here’s the video for you to decide yourself:
SPCA’s Response
To respond to this, the executive director of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) said that such cases of abuse are too common, unfortunately.

He further stated that there is no reason to cause unnecessary pain by hitting a dog. It is a counterproductive practice to discipline animals by physically assaulting them.
Regardless of whether the man did hit his pet dog or not, I’m sure we all agree that this shouldn’t be the case to discipline a dog.
In fact, hitting dogs might result in the loss of trust the dog has in their owners. This might develop problematic behaviours in the future, such as fear-biting.
With this, SPCA advocates for humane and force-free training methods to effectively train dogs in the long run.
After all, dogs are human’s best friend. You wouldn’t hit your best friend, would you?
