TGIF! Oh wait, I mean TGIFF (Thank God It’s Fast-food Friday)!!
So for today, we got to try the new breakfast item from McDonald’s—Hotcakes with Chicken Selects.
As usual, I took my boss’ credit card and ordered myself a set of the said hotcakes.

So while waiting, I decided to check out the promo for it.
YAAAAASSSSS. McDonald’s promos are always on point. #foodporn.
I am not a huge fan of savoury pancakes; I like them insanely saccharine.
But for the sake of TGIFF and the readers, I am putting it to a taste test.
After 30 minutes or so (which seemed like an eternity as I didn’t eat my breakfast before coming to the office), it arrived!
The breaded chicken looked like mega nuggets but don’t judge a book by its cover.

So I cut it open.
Why does it look like those vegan “meat”?
Anyways, I went in for the kill.

Not as crispy as I thought it would be but it tastes what it’s supposed to taste like—shiok!
It tastes very similar to the patty used in the Chicken Muffin.
Now I paired it with the pancakes.
It actually goes well, especially if you drizzle it with their syrup.

I guess you can do sweet and savoury on one plate and it doesn’t have to be gross.
I was legit disappointed when I finished the last piece of chicken.
Maybe McDonald’s can offer their breaded chicken, even after breakfast hours.
I would legit get myself a Chicken Selects meal if it was available.
Verdict: 3/5
I mean, McDonald’s raised its bar when it launched the Nasi Lemak Burger so the expectation will always be high.

It is a decent breakfast meal that will taste even more glorious when you’re suffering from a terrible hangover.
