Another Migrant Worker With COVID-19 Died But Cause of Death is Still Unknown

In Singapore, the total death toll due to COVID-19 infection is 17, and the youngest person to have died is 58 years old so far.

Yesterday, a 76-year-old male Singaporean has been reported to pass away due to complications from COVID-19 infection on 1 May 2020.

To determine whether a person has passed away due to COVID-19, the death must be due to infections caused by COVID-19. According to studies, the deaths are usually caused by respiratory failure due to lung failure or damage to the cardiovascular system, which basically means the heart.

The 17 deaths are therefore all reported as “complications due to COVID-19 infection” as it’s important to note the cause of death so that we’d know the real fatality rate of the disease.

However, yesterday, another man was reported to have died as well, and he has COVID-19.

Now, this is not the first time that a person has died after being confirmed as a COVID-19 patient—prior to this, there have been several COVID-19 patients who had passed away but investigations later show that they had died due to other causes.

For example, in early April, a 32-year-old Indian national who was tested positive had died due to heart attack back.

However, now, there has been two migrant worker deaths that have not been explained yet, and that’s worrying.

Especially when the first one was not due to any nature cause.

Unexplained Migrant Worker Death First Surfaced on 23 April 2020

On 23 April 2020, a COVID-19 patient, who’s also a migrant worker, was found dead at a staircase landing in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

He had died due to injuries and there was no foul play involved.

So, if COVID-19 had not caused these deaths, what could?

We can only imagine until official announcements are made.
