These days it’s either sweltering hot or pouring non-stop.
Most of us would rather stay home while blasting the air-conditioner, but for our migrant workers, they don’t really have a choice other than to withstand the heat.
Luckily, there are still some kind souls out there to brighten their days.
Man Buys Starbucks for Migrant Workers to Try
On Monday (28 June), a TikTok user @notjamuslim shared a TikTok on a few migrant workers’ reactions after trying Starbucks for the first time.
In the video, he shared that since it was a particularly hot day, he had decided to buy some Starbucks drinks for the workers at his workplace who never had Starbucks before.
“Have you tried Starbucks before?” the man can be heard asking the migrant workers individually as the camera pans to them.
After tasting the drink, he also got them to rate the drink out of 10.
The first migrant worker took a few sips and said it was nice. However, he eventually ended up giving the drink a rating of 7 out of 10.
“Seven only ah?” The man can be heard asking after the initial rating was given. Seemingly finding the score unexpected, the man asked the first worker to give it another taste.
The reaction was slightly better from the second migrant worker to try the drink.
After giving the drink continuous, long sips, the worker can be seen letting out a sigh of satisfaction after drinking it. He said that the drink was very nice and cooling on a hot day, even showing a thumbs up to the camera.
The final rating? A solid 10 out of 10.
The final migrant worker turned out to like the Starbucks drink more than the rest.
Showing a big smile to the camera, he gave the drink a 10.5 out of 10.
Varying Reactions From Netizens
Of course, the most common reaction when seeing a kind act is to praise the person responsible for the good deed.
Indeed, many other users can be seen praising the man in the comments section of the video.
“You are so kind, big respect to you,” wrote one netizen.
Another netizen said, “so nice of you to buy them Starbucks!! They deserve so much”.
However, there were also some others who weren’t so pleased with what they saw and heard in the video. Some netizens had criticised the man’s tone towards the migrant workers for being disrespectful, while others questioned if the man had gained the workers’ permission before posting the video on social media.
“Posting all over social media and probably without their permission for “clout”, it just comes off as disingenuous,” a TikTok user wrote.
Responding to the former criticism, the man explained that he was not being disrespectful, and that it was merely how they talked to each other as friends.
“Those that feels offended at my tone hope you understand that’s how we all talk, we’re all friends here and there’s no disrespect,” replied the man.
He also made another TikTok later to show that he did, in fact, get permission from the migrant workers to film the video.
The man has since privatised his TikTok Account.
