Netizens Outraged at Family That Has 5-figure Income Asking for More Help

So I was scrolling Facebook sometime back when I noticed a good number of my friends fervently sharing and commenting on a certain article by The New Paper. (Here’s a backup copypasta from Hardwarezone)

Now, for some reason, the article has been removed from The New Paper website.

It piqued my interest, since some of them are known to be silent readers on Facebook. You know, those people who just read your posts and maybe leave a “like” every now and then but never comment.

Then I took a look at the article they were sharing.

Wait, what?

“Ms Serene Lee, 37, said that despite her husband’s five-figure monthly income, a family the size of hers still struggles to make ends meet.”

WAT. HANG ON A MINUTE THERE—

Ms Lee said: “It is those of middle income like me who are suffering.”

Oh dammit.

It’s gonna be one of those articles, huh?

Buckle up, people! It’s gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride!

For those of you who are too lazy to read the entire article, allow me to list the content out in point form:

  • Family with five-figure monthly income unable to make end’s meet
  • Three kids, one in primary school, one in secondary school and one in a polytechnic.
  • Miss Lee just had a heart transplant and has to take immunosuppressants($50/pill)
  • $50 pill every day for the rest of her life
  • After insurance and financial support, medication still costs more than $1000 for 6 months
  • She has a maid
  • Her daughter’s sailing CCA costs between $300 and $400 a year.
  • Private tuition for her second daughter

And I am f*cking done.

How the hell is her family struggling to make ends meet? Her husband is making a five-figure income for goodness’ sake!

Her medical bill is something which is unavoidable, and I believe we can all understand that. However, she is already receiving insurance and financial support!

No matter how I do my calculations, I could not understand why her family could not make ends meet! Do they have a car? Are they living in a private property? Do they have some kind of outstanding debt?

Even if that’s the case, that’s just them wanting to lead a luxurious lifestyle!

Someone should show them how to separate their needs from wants! And thankfully, some netizens actually took the time and effort to analyze the situation!

And there we have it!

Lady, maybe we do not understand your situation fully, but saying something like…

“It is those of middle income like me who are suffering.”

…is gonna get yourself caught up in one hell of an endless flame war!

That’s all.
