Remember the stress of holding up crowds at the mall entrance because your SafeEntry app wasn’t working?
Fortunately, we no longer have to worry about that, but good things never really last forever.
You may or may not be glad to hear this – there are job advertisements up for SafeEntry ambassadors online again, and we all know what that denotes.
SafeEntry ambassador job openings online
Recently, screenshots of job advertisements for SafeEntry ambassadors have been making the rounds on social media.
After all, it’s not everyday you get see a job opening other than “WAREHOUSE PACKER” when you’re looking for quick cash.
On the JobStreet portal, job advertisements for SafeEntry ambassadors were recently listed by JobStudio.
The job mainly requires one to provide frontline customer service, register visitors and to do crowd control.
And with most other jobs, you’re required to carry out any other ad-hoc duties as assigned – essentially a nicer way of saying you’re a “saigang warrior”.
While the latest job listing went up on Thursday (20 Oct), there were other similar job advertisements from a month ago.
These earlier listings however, seem to be looking for officers at vaccination centres instead of your classic SafeEntry ambassador sitting at the ION entrance – the gatekeepers of Singapore malls.

Recent listings however, do not explicitly include “Vaccination Centre Usher” in the job title.
Instead, recent listings include information highlighting the scale and urgency of the recruitment of SafeEntry ambassadors, as well as temperature screeners.
Regardless, details on the job scope mostly remain unchanged across all the listings, new or old.
Applicants are also required to have at least a GCE O-Level certificate.
The return of rules and restrictions?
Netizens have been speculating, as they always do, and many believe that this could be an indication that stricter COVID-19 safe management measures could kick in again.
This is especially with the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases resulting from the new XBB sub-variant.
More specifically, many netizens believe that we should expect to familiarise ourselves with SafeEntry and Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS) again.
Just last week, it was mentioned that mask rules are not ruled out yet and we could quite possibly be masking up again should the situation call for it.
While we should probably avoid being speculative, it remains that tightened restrictions are a very real possibility – so don’t be too shocked when you have to reinstall SafeEntry on your phone again.
