Were You There? Old Man Paralysed After Accident With Lorry, Filial Son Searching For Eye Witnesses

Life is as unpredictable as the game Russian Roulette. One moment you might be enjoying your evening jog, and the next— you’re on the ground because you’ve slipped and fell.

Such was the case for a 75-year-old cleaner working at Nee Soon Camp. Just like any other day, he left his house before 6 am on his electric bicycle to make his way to Nee Soon Camp.

However, little did he expect himself to be involved in a traffic accident with a lorry.

The son of the cleaner, Mr Lim, has been hard at work trying to look for eyewitnesses to the accident. He went to the coffee shop right beside the scene of the accident looking for eyewitnesses and was even knocking on the doors of nearby residents, in hopes of finding someone who might know something about the accident.

The accident took place on 2 Feb at around 6 am, before 223 Yishun Ring Road.

The son, Mr Lim, received a call approximately one hour later regarding the hospitalisation of his father at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. According to a nurse, his father was involved in a traffic accident with a lorry.

Mr Lim’s father has had two surgeries due to brain haemorrhage. Despite the surgeries, his condition was not improving.

“Ever since hospitalization, I have yet to hear my father speak. At the current moment, the left half of his body can no longer move and he doesn’t seem to recognize us anymore. However, he will begin tearing up upon hearing my mother’s voice,” said Mr Lim.
