Everything You Need To Know About The Man Who Set Fire To A S’pore Police Post & Wrote ‘ISIS’ on Wall Last Night

Yesterday was an eventful day.

Singapore announced its new Covid-19 measures to contain the virus, and released the new electoral boundaries, which means election coming soon liao.

We realised Malaysia Ringgit has dropped to (yet-another) all-time low, not that we are looking to travel at the moment. Nobody said anything about not stockpiling though, right?

And a wedding couple decided to go against convention and let their guests pack their food home, regardless of how they were accused of making their wedding “cheap”.

But Little Did We Know, There’s More To Come

On 13 Mar 2020, at 11.10pm, a fire broke out at 105 Towner Road just outside a Neighbourhood Police Post.

But it wasn’t just any ordinary fire.

It was set off deliberately by a man who sprayed graffitis on the walls and was heard screaming obscenities.

Multiple explosion sounds were also heard and it’s believed that the man has thrown an “incendiary canister” into the fire.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident and managed to extinguish the fire with a hose reel, two compressed air foam backpacks and one extinguisher.

They’ve also heard about the incendiary device and searched the area for its remains.

It wasn’t revealed if they have managed to find any.

Sprayed “ISIS” & “F*** PAP”

It wasn’t known what drove the man to do this but netizens pointed out the graffiti that the man sprayed on walls near the police post.

One had the word “ISIS”

While another one has harsh words for Singapore’s ruling party.

The 31-year-old man has been arrested by the police at the crime scene and police investigations are ongoing.

The graffiti has been speedily removed and barricades were constructed around the police post.

Other than a few charred marks and burnt fabric, it didn’t seem as though anything special happened last night.

Netizens Speculated That Its A “Terrorist Attack”

If you were to look at the various posts by Singaporeans who managed to witness (and take photos or videos) of the incident, you’ll notice one common thread:

Some of them call it a “terrorist attack”.

Maybe because of the word “ISIS” and how it seems to fit the bill of a terrorist attack, “bombing a place of authority”.

But let us all not speculate about the motive of the attack and let our heroic men in blue investigate the incident.

After all, we all know that our government believes in information transparency, right?
