One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

This saying was proven true by a Singaporean man who found a PS5 box at his void deck’s trash area.

On 19 Dec 2020, Facebook user Leslie Koh (yes, the Ricer Cooker Man who also found substitutes for McDonald’s for us when the fast-food chain closed during Circuit Breaker) took to Facebook to share about his little garang guni adventure.

Turns out, when he went to the void deck to throw some trash on 17 Dec 2020, he came across an empty PS5 box that looked as good as new.

Thinking that it would make a great prank for someone, he decided to bring it home and see if he could sell it for some money on Carousell.

Apparently, after snapping a couple of pictures and uploading them onto the e-commerce platform, he received a message from an interested party.

He admitted to being sceptical at first (after all, everyone’s heard of Carouhell, right?) but he went ahead with the deal anyway.

And, well, he managed to sell it for 30 bucks.

Yes, an empty box that he coincidentally came across netted him S$30.

A BOX THAT I PICKED IT FOR NOTHING AND MADE $30

One Man’s Trash Is Another Man’s Treasure

To conclude his amazing find, he has four lessons he’d learnt from this episode.

  • Opportunities are everywhere, you just need to keep your eyes open
  • One man’s rubbish is indeed another man’s treasure
  • If you never try, you’ll never know
  • Someone’s going to get pranked this Christmas

Who knows, someone might just upload the same box on Instagram while cursing out their friend for raising their hopes up on 25 Dec 2020.

Sony’s new PS5 was officially launched on 19 Nov 2020 and since then, it’s made the internet news for a few times now.

People have been fooling their friends and family with the PS5 Instagram filter.

Even Hougang NPC, the only gang in Singapore, used the filter to remind people about the danger of scams.

Very cool.

A Taiwanese man who bought the game console tried fooling his wife by telling her that it was an air purifier, and was forced to sell it for cheap after it was found out.

On a separate note, for those who can’t bear to spend so much on a game console, Sony announced that they might release a cheaper PS5 in 2021.
