Those who saw the video of the horrific car crash at Tanjong Pagar in Feb this year will surely remember the sight of a woman running towards the burning vehicle.

It was later discovered that the woman, Ms Raybe Oh Siew Huey, was the girlfriend of the driver, Jonathan Long, who perished in the accident, along with four other men.

In an attempt to save her boyfriend, Ms Oh ran towards the flaming car and ended up suffering severe burns on 80% of her body.

Now, we’ve learned that the 26-year-old was discharged four months later.

At around 5:30am on 13 Feb this year, residents in the vicinity of Tanjong Pagar Road heard the roar of a car’s engine.

The car involved in the accident, a BMW M4 coupe, was seen speeding along Tanjong Pagar Road at the time.

Eyewitnesses say the car then slammed into a vacant shophouse previously occupied by Five Oars Coffee Roasters and burst into flames.

Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene, but it was too late; all five men on board were pronounced dead at the scene.

Those who died included Mr Long and Eugene Yap, both 29, Elvin Tan Yong Hao, 28, Teo Qi Xiang, 26, and Gary Wong Hong Chieh, 29.

Ms Oh raced towards the burning wreckage in order to save her boyfriend and emerged 10 seconds later engulfed in flames.

She was warded in the intensive care unit for over a week before being moved to a high dependency ward.

Not long before the tragic accident, Mr Long and Ms Oh had applied for a flat together.

Mr Long’s 62-year-old father previously said that while he’s struggling to come to terms with his son’s death, he was also affected by Ms Oh’s serious injuries.

“I treat her as my own daughter and I hope that she will be safe,” he said. “She is really a very good girl, and we will do our best to take care of her.”
