There’s a saying that “Honesty is the Best Policy”, but one would never expect it to backfire this way.
Two years ago, a dog rescuer going by the Facebook alias of May Ccus was looking around for potential adopters for a dog that she rescued off the streets.
She eventually found a home for the puppy under a Malaysian man who owned a soya bean stall, who promised that he would love the puppy.
Alas, his “love” for the dog was horrifyingly twisted.
When May went back on 4 August to check on the dog’s condition, the adopter confessed to her that “it tasted nice to stew and eat”.
The dog is dead.
Worst of all, the man had the gall to ask the dog rescuer if there were more dogs that he could have.
Needless to say, May was devastated by the news.
She took it to the Malaysian Homeless Animal Movement Facebook page soon after, in hopes that the virality of their post could raise awareness to the animal cruelty and possibly get the man arrested.

The Death of The Dog
In the video, the dog eater is completely unrepentant about what he has done.
Speaking in Cantonese, he admitted that he slaughtered (劏; tong), to which May asks him what he meant by that.
The man confirmed in a dismissive tone that he killed the dog, though there are three versions: the first being that he was the one to bury the hatchet, the second being that his maternal uncle did it, and the third explanation was that it was a random Myanmar man who killed it.
Either way, the dog is dead.
When May asked why he killed the puppy instead of returning it to her (if he was going to do this), the man responded that the puppy was already his and its life and death was his business.
The man then tells her that his family hails from Guangxi, China, claiming that it’s normal for natives there to kill all kinds of animals for food.
He also drags the entire Semnyih area—the place where he currently lives—down with him, stating that the residents are all dog meat lovers.
He laughs after saying this.
The man also tells her to leave and not disturb his business while he’s tending to the stall.
No Remorse For The Victim
It can’t be denied that different cultures have different cuisines and standards.
Westerners see dogs and cats as domesticated animals that don’t deserve to be eaten, but are perfectly fine with mass-breeding pigs, cows, and chickens for consumption. Other countries are more varied in their poultry choices, having no qualms eating mutton, venison, pigeon, whale, snake and dogs.
According to the comment section, what is most irksome about this man was that he had sworn to love and take care of the puppy but ate it instead.
It’s even more sickening that he describes what he did to the dog and how it tasted to the dog rescuer, going as far as saying that the meat was tender when stewed.
As if that wasn’t horrible enough, he asks May whether there were more rescue dogs because he wants more.
On May’s part, she sincerely regrets not double-checking the man’s background before she rehoused the animal and accepts that she’s partially to blame for her negligence.
She tried reporting the man to the police—it probably doesn’t really help that she’s in Malaysia and dogs are haram—but there wasn’t any evidence that could get the man arrested.
Thus, she pleads to the netizens to boycott his soya bean in Taman Connaught Cheras, and asks the animal lovers to help her seek justice.
Sigh, the poor puppy. It was so cute too.
