And because we eat full nothing to do, we decided to do some research on the domain, guanyinma.com.
Apparently, it has been registered by someone a while back. When the owner did not renew it, it became a “parked domain”—meaning it used to be active, but when it expired (domain names are required to be renewed annually), it is purchased at a low price and then advertisements were placed there.
The idea is that since it was formerly registered, there would still be some traffic coming in, so expired domains are usually purchased, monetized (with advertisements) and offered to prospective buyers at a high price.
So…how much is guanyinma.com ?
Just for your info, a domain name will usually cost less than $10 a year. Here’s how much guanyinma.com cost, as seen in Godaddy.com:
And yes, $1,399.38 is the minimum offer you can make. It can be even more expensive.
Bet you didn’t expect this in 2002, did you?
