Singapore has seen its fair share of crime in recent years, from sexual assaults to a senseless murder wide in the open.
On 2 Sept, a group of nine individuals ranging from the age of 13 to 24 allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old boy in Lengkok Bahru in the Redhill area.
The 15-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a hospital.
It is stated that the group assaulted the 15-year-old boy due to a past dispute.
Charged with Rioting
Nine of the attackers were charged with rioting while armed with a deadly weapon under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
This offence can see them being placed in prison for up to 10 years and caned.
They were arrested between 3 and 9 Sept with the help of police surveillance cameras and ground inquiries.
Weapons were also seized during their arrest. The weapon used during the assault is believed to be a custom Karambit knife.
