Have you ever received the wrong order?

Order mix-ups are bound to happen sometimes, but this stall took it to the extreme when a customer got a bag of rubbish instead of Mala Hot Pot.

Here’s what happened.

Ordered Mala, Got Cockroaches and Tissue Paper For Dinner

On 11 March, customer Zephyr Jun Xiang Ng posted about this incident on the Facebook page Complaint Singapore.

He had ordered dinner from Chuan Wei Mala Hot Pot through foodpanda, but ended up getting a bag of rubbish “filled with used tissue paper, wrappers, other order slips and cockroaches”.

He added that he can’t understand why the rider would even pick up this rubbish and deliver it, labelling them “unhygienic and unethical”.

Not The First Wrong Order From This Restaurant

If this was the first time he got a wrong order, it could be dismissed as a mistake. But twice? That’s too much to handle.

On 8 March, the same customer had ordered food from the same stall, only to end up getting black soup. He thought that his order was accidentally swapped with another order, and decided to give this stall another chance.

However, after getting literal trash… Needless to say, the stall has just permanently lost a customer.

Stall Said That It Was A Genuine Mistake

According to an interview with Shin Min Daily News, the stall owner confirmed that this was a genuine mix-up.

There were only two employees manning the store that day, and both were busy with dinner orders.

The food for delivery was placed on a table in front of the store. However, one of the employees who just cleared the rubbish also placed the bag full of trash there.

It appeared that the delivery rider had taken the wrong bag and delivered the trash by mistake. However, the stall owner also acknowledged that they should have been more careful, and apologised to the customer.

foodpanda has also said that they’ve contacted the customer and fully refunded him. The matter is also under investigation.

In other news, a rubbish bin just received a bag of piping hot food from Chuan Wei Mala Hot Pot.
