By now, you would have probably already seen this cursed image on many social media platforms.
Yes, I’m talking about this.
Someone Spat On The Lift Buttons At Rumbia LRT Station
In case you don’t know what that photo is of, it’s essentially some prankster’s spit on the lift buttons at Rumbia LRT Station.
The photo first surfaced on Reddit on 20 February and has now made its round on other platforms like Facebook.
Everyone has expressed their disgust over whoever did this, especially during this time where everyone is on the edge and trying to maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Some netizens who lived in the area said that they would very much rather take the stairs than the lift now.
Me too.
Others were hoping that the culprit would be caught and be jailed for such an inconsiderate act.
SBS Transit Responds
According to AsiaOne, after the incident was brought to light, SBS Transit’s senior vice president of corporate communications Tammy Tan said, “This is an abhorrent act even under normal circumstances. In the present situation, it’s more than mischief.”
As of now, the LRT operator has already reported the incident to the authorities and he will be helping with the investigations.
Tan also addressed the public’s concerns about the unsanitary lift and assured everyone that it has already been cleaned and disinfected.
It is angering that someone would do such an inconsiderate act and make the lift so dirty.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time that we are hearing of such a case because, in the beginning of this month, a man in Guangxi, China was caught spitting on lift buttons on CCTV. Despite him not being infected with COVID-19, his act caused everyone who lived in the same apartment block as him to panic unnecessarily.
In another situation, someone smeared faeces all over the lift buttons of a residential block. Even though it wasn’t during a time where the COVID-19 outbreak was rampant, it really makes one question why anyone would do such a thing.
Hopefully, the culprit will be caught soon, and while we can’t always avoid touching lift buttons, we can always sanitise our hands and wash them with soap and water. Make sure you don’t touch your face with your hands either!
Stay safe, everyone!
