Recently, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, many people who have planned for their vacations a long time ago have had to change their travel plans and remain in Singapore instead.

1-Time Free Change For People Booking Tickets From Now Until 14 May

To counter the falling travelling rate during this critical period, Scoot has introduced their all-new policy, which allows you to change your flight dates one time for free.

This applies to everyone who books their tickets from now until 14 May via Scoot’s website, mobile app or WeChat mini booking site because Scoot believes in allowing their customers to book with confidence, especially during this period of time where the COVID-19 situation is still uncertain.

According to their official website, only one date change will be allowed per booking itinerary and it will automatically be applied to all passengers in the same booking itinerary.

This offer, however, does not apply to passenger name changes or destination changes, nor does it apply to connecting journeys with partner or interline airlines.

If you are a UOB KrisFlyer member who already enjoys a Booking Flexibility waiver as part of the membership benefit, you will also not be applicable for this offer.

How Do I Change My Flight Dates?

Already booked your tickets but unsure as to how to change your flight dates?

1. Simply click on “Manage My Booking” once you arrive at the Scoot website.
2. Enter your booking reference number
3. Go to “Change Flight” to choose your new travel dates

You will be able to change your flight dates up to four hours before the scheduled departure time of your originally booked flight.

Aviation Industry Worsening

With so many countries affected by the infection, it is no wonder that Singaporeans are preferring to stay at home instead of travelling.

The total number of people who have been infected with COVID-19 is nearing 120,000, and more than 4,200 people have already lost their lives because of it.

In order to cut their losses, companies are implementing pay cuts getting people to go on unpaid leave.

For example, Cathay Pacific told 27,000 of its staff members to take unpaid leave of up to three weeks during this COVID-19 outbreak.

Chief executive officer Augustus Tang said in a video message posted online, “I am hoping all of you will participate, from our front-line employees to our senior leaders, and to share in our current challenges.”

In response to the outbreak, Singapore Airlines (SIA) also announced that all SIA and SilkAir tickets that were bought between 6 March and 31 March will have their change fees waived. This includes travelling to and from all destinations.

Singapore has also seen a dip in the tourism industry, and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) estimates that there will be a 25% to 30% fall in visitor arrivals this year if the highly contagious virus continues to spread globally.
