I have an irrational fear of dentists ever since I was a kid.
You are in a compromising position and the dentist is digging your gums with his thingamajig and you’re just laying there waiting for some disaster to occur.
Sometimes I wish the dental assistant would offer a blanket of security such as “it’s going to be alright” and “you won’t even feel a thing”.
