This uncle in Tampines has managed to turn his dining out experience into something much more comfortable – it is as though he’s dining at home.

However, despite the mini-uproar he caused, it’s unlikely he will change this bad habit of his… to the chagrin of many people who frequents the Pasir Ris Elias Community Club.

Well, way to break social norms. As long as you hurt no one, you do you!

Bringing home habits outside

You know the sort of devil-may-care feeling you may have while dining at home?

For instance, some people may have the bad habit of putting their leg on the chair – ah long-style – while eating, while others may have the bad habit of chewing with their mouths open.

Some may even dine naked… oooo, kinky.

Well, for this uncle, he loves eating his food bare-chested, as well as sock-and-shoe-less, much like how he did at home.

However, by bringing this home habit of his outside, he caused a sizeable uproar among the public, resulting in the police being called to the scene.

An argument and a strongly-worded advice

As reported by Shin Min Daily News, on May 1, at around 7 pm, the uncle was spotted at the sitting area of the Pasir Ris Elias Community Club with his box of takeout food.

He ate his food in his unusual manner, that is by taking off his clothes, his socks and shoes first.

A guy was seen approaching the uncle and there seem to be a minor argument between the two.

The guy then called the police, and after what seemed to be a piece of strongly-worded advice from the cops did the argument stopped.

Everything was captured via video by an eye-witness and uploaded to the internet.

In the video, the uncle was seen putting on his clothes and then wearing his helmet before cycling away on his bike.

The uncle probably lives nearby

A staff working at a nearby pizza place, 41-year-old Gumaran, said that he saw 4 police officers talking with the uncle for around 20 mins before the uncle would depart the place.

He also noted that the guy who called the cops only talked with the uncle and that there were no physical altercations of any sort.

The uncle often waves to passers-by but no one waved back, he said.

“The uncle always appears nearby with a newspaper to read and some takeout to eat. Sometimes, he’ll take off his shirt, socks and shoes. It’s just weird behaviour, to be honest.”

“Sometimes, the uncle can also be spotted eating snacks at the sitting area in Pasir Ris Elias Community Club. He probably lives nearby,” he added.

A nearby coffee shop worker also noted that the uncle hasn’t been showing up at the shop for a few months now.

Usually, he will head to the coffee shop at around 9pm to eat some rice.

He tends to take off his short, socks, and shoes when he did so too.

The coffee shop worker added that the uncle is a messy eater and will often drop food all over the place while he eats.

She admonished the uncle once and told him to change his bad habit. The uncle nodded in agreement.
