The World Slap Competition Championship. Seriously?

My heart was devastated after Marat Gafurov lost his ONE Featherweight World Champion to Martin Nguyen via a knockout on 18 August.

But the first 5 seconds of this video provided some comical relief for my grief-stricken heart.

World slap competition ends with a horrible KO! ✋

Did you finish watching the video?

The reason why I said the “5 seconds of this video” was amusing is that I have never seen anything like that before. #AWholeNewWorld.

But 50 seconds into the video, my heart was racing like a wild horse as chubby swung his fleshy arm towards skinny. It was like David vs Goliath. Just that Goliath won.

Skinny drops to the ground and get knocked out completely. Almost turning into a lifeless corpse.

Though this may be laughable, I think a lot of preparation goes into this fight.

Physically, training of the wrist. I suppose they do wrist weight-lifting?

Mentally, learning how to keep one’s composure, not pick a fight, redirecting all the energy back into the competition after being slapped?

What are your thoughts? It’s a championship after all… but hell, it must have hurt a great deal.
