2 Men Voluntarily Removed Large Branches Off the Road After A Trailer Truck Knocked Them Onto The Road

These may be tumultuous times…

But it seems that the notion of helpfulness has not faltered just yet.

In the face of a potentially road-clogging incident, two men decided to roll up their sleeves…

And do what most people would have shied away from.

2 Men Voluntarily Removed Large Branches Off the Road After A Trailer Truck Knocked Them Onto The Road

On 7 August 2021, a trailer truck reportedly sent several thick tree branches flying to the ground, clogging the road and leaving just one open lane for vehicles to pass through.

As any driver would attest to, this could really complicate things.

Thankfully, however, two well-meaning men took matters into their own hands and helped to clear the road.

The first, a passing bicycle rider, saw the scene and proceeded to park his ride.

After a brief check on things, he began to shift branches from the road.

Subsequently, another young Indian man came by to help. They reportedly stomped the branches with visible difficulty, before shifting the roadblocks onto the embankment in the middle of the road.

The scene was witnessed by several passersby, one of whom gave a thumbs up.

After cleaning up the road, the first male left on his bicycle, while the Indian man walked back to the sidewalk and vacated silently.

Their feat, however, is evidently not as quiet as they thought.

What The Branches Could Have Meant

Back in May 2019, a tree fell onto the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas.

The incident caused a huge jam, and numerous riders faced a delay of more than an hour.

Workers had to be deployed to remove the tree from the scene.

Also, tree branches could cause potential injuries to road drivers.

Three years ago, a taxi driver wrote of his encounter with a random tree branch on the road, stating that it’s a road hazard and that it could prove hazardous for motorcyclists.

“Taking the effort to remove possible road hazards like this tree branch is for the safety of other vulnerable road users like motorcyclists,” said Mr Lee.

“It doesn’t take much time to avert serious accidents. So I did it,” he said.

It’s heartening to see that years down the road, such a kindred spirit has not died out.

Instead, it only seems to have spread. Positively so.
