Villa Vie Odyssey Cruise Ship Detained Off Changi After Arriving Without Passengers

The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship was placed under arrest off Changi on Sunday (8 November 2026), after arriving in Singapore without passengers. The Singapore Courts’ vessel register records the arrest at 10.34am and lists the ship at Changi General Purpose Anchorage.

Crew Remained on Board

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the ship was anchored in Singapore port waters with no passengers aboard, 8world reported. MPA said the crew were in good condition and that the ship’s creditors were making arrangements for their daily needs and welfare.

In a maritime case, a court can order the Sheriff to detain a ship and hold it as security for a claim.

More Than 200 Passengers Had to Leave the Ship in Cambodia

The Odyssey offered passengers a way to live at sea while travelling the world. Its operator, Florida-based Villa Vie Residences, let passengers rent or buy accommodation on board, with the option to make the ship their permanent home.

On 28 October, more than 200 passengers were told to get off during a stop in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Villa Vie Residences suspended operations, saying that rising fuel costs linked to the war in Iran had made the voyage too expensive to continue.

The ship had left Cambodia by 4 November. The local tourism department chief told Reuters that about 50 crew members were aboard when it left.
