I am sure the ‘winter period’ in January took Singaporeans by surprise.
It was almost ‘too good to be true’.
But at the same time, we personally experienced the effects of global warming without going to the North and South Poles ourselves.

But guess what?
The cold weather could be back.
The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) forecast shows that temperatures are going to hit as low as 22°C in these four nights (9-12 Feb).
As we enter into the dry period of the Northeast Monsoon, the dry, warm and occasionally windy weather is expected in Singapore for the first half of February.
But there may be short thundery showers in the afternoon for around 3 to 5 days.
So if you’re going bai nian, just bring an umbrella along! It doesn’t hurt.

By the way, I’m not sure if you’ve realised, but it’s been kind of windy recently. Well, in fact, very windy.

The winds are likely to be due to the weak monsoon surge.
It affects the South China Sea and the surrounding region (i.e. it affects us).
FYI, this was not the cause of the ‘flying boat’ at East Coast Park last week.
Daily temperatures
The daily temperatures for the first half of February will be between 24°C and 34°C.
Which sounds like we’re gonna melt in the day and freeze at night.
