Woman Takes Swift Action After Being Molested
Ms Liu (name transliterated from Mandarin), 43, told reporters that when the incident happened, she was taking her daughter to Jurong Point in Boon Lay for dinner.
While riding the escalator to the platform, she suddenly felt someone forcefully grab her buttocks.
“I was startled and turned around to find a man behind me. There was also a male student behind him who seemed to have witnessed the whole thing and was looking at me in shock,” she said.
Ms. Liu immediately confronted the man, but he denied the accusation. She then took out her phone to call the police, at which point the man tried to leave by walking against the direction of the escalator.
“I shouted at him not to run, and once the escalator reached the top, I immediately took the down escalator to chase after him,” she explained.

According to photos and videos taken by Ms. Liu, a man wearing a purple shirt was stopped by MRT station staff and waited for police to arrive.
“He denied the molestation many times. About 10 minutes later, several officers from the Public Transport Security Command arrived and took us to separate rest areas in the station to record our statements,” she said.
She mentioned that the police officers explained to her that such offences are serious and can cause great distress to women, so they must be handled strictly.
Ms. Liu posted photos on social media platform Xiaohongshu, sharing her experience: “I chose to call the police to set an example for my daughter and other female victims, to bravely protect ourselves and punish wrongdoing!”
The police confirmed they received a report, and a 26-year-old man has been arrested for outraging a woman’s modesty.
