Previously, the authorities have warned that if companies are found to have insufficient safe management measures, they’ll be ordered to shut down.

Three workplaces were also made to shut down.

Yet it seems like not everyone took this lesson to heart.

Workplace in S’pore Told to Close for 2 Weeks After 3 Employees Contracted COVID-19

On 14 Jul 2020, it was reported that MOH has ordered a company, Mini Environment Service (MES), to shut down for two weeks from 13 to 26 July 2020.

Three of their employees have contracted the coronavirus.

The company specialises in workforce accommodations and hotels, as well as commercial warehousing and transportation.

When checked, it was found that the company has breached safe management and safe distancing measures and the ministry decided to close them down for two weeks to curb Covid-19 transmission.

This closure, MOH says, will allow the company to review their safe management measures as well and improve on it.

Close contacts of the three cases have been quarantined, the ministry revealed, and all of the company’s employees will be monitored and undergo tests for Covid-19.

If you’re wondering, why so serious? You got to remember that in South Korea, a major reason behind their second wave is because of a company that breached safe distancing and safe management measures:

Marina Bay Sands & Seletar Mall Among New Places Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases

Don’t panic, though, because there’s a reason for the spike.

MOH explained that on 10 and 11 July, fewer tests were carried out in the laboratories. They started clearing backlogs of the samples from 12 Jul 2020 onwards so you can probably expect to see high numbers for the next few days.

Other than the new cases, MOH has also updated their list of places where infectious Covid-19 cases have been to.

New places on the list include:

  • Marina Bay Sands Casino (5 Jul / 10.05pm to 12.50am)
  • Seletar Mall Spectacle Hut & FairPrice (1 Jul / 2pm to 3.05pm)
  • The Bedok Marketplace Giant (1 Jul / 7.15pm to 8.20pm)

Again, you don’t have to go out of your way to avoid these places.

Every time a location is identified, the National Environment Agency (NEA) will work together with the management of the area to engage a professional service to thoroughly clean and disinfect the area.

You should, however, monitor your health carefully for the next 14 days if you were in the area around the same time period.

Yes, even if all you have is the sniffles.

In case you didn’t hear it yet, a French expert has said that a “fully-effective” vaccine will not be ready by 2021.

Social distancing is still key, the expert says.

So yes, while we can now have some social activity now that we’re in Phase Two, it might still be a good idea to limit them during this period.
