YouTrip confirmed that all its services were operating normally on Monday evening (19 October), following a major outage that affected most of its functions in Singapore and Thailand.
In an update to CNA at about 6:45pm, the multi-currency e-wallet provider said its functions were “fully back up and operating as normal”. The confirmation followed a partial recovery earlier that afternoon.
Top-Ups, Currency Exchange And Payments Affected
At about 11am, 19 of YouTrip’s 23 services in Singapore were affected, including wallet top-ups, currency exchange and payment authentication.
The disruption also affected its Thailand operations, where only three of 14 services were listed as operational.
By about 12:45pm, the affected services in both countries had been reclassified on YouTrip’s website from a major outage to “service degradation”. This was an intermediate update before the company confirmed full restoration that evening.
At around 3:50pm, YouTrip told CNA that most functions, including in-app currency exchange and wallet top-ups, had returned to normal. However, card transactions, payment authentication and ATM withdrawals were still affected at about 4pm, according to The Business Times’ checks of its status tracker.
YouTrip Says Funds And Accounts Remained Safe
YouTrip attributed the disruption to a technical issue in a third-party vendor’s system.
The company said users’ funds and accounts remained “completely safe” throughout the disruption. It added that, after resolving the issue, its immediate priority was to monitor the vendor’s system stability to maintain reliable operations.
YouTrip’s Singapore status page also listed all services as operational when checked for this article. These included top-ups, in-app exchange, card transactions and ATM withdrawals.
