It’s been a long time since most of us have been to a theme park, but there may be no need, since the COVID-19 pandemic is just like a roller coaster ride.

There are ups and downs, and you always feel like throwing up.

There was a slight rise in community cases yesterday (21 Jun), as 13 new COVID-19 cases were reported.

Thankfully, no new infections were detected in foreign workers’ dormitories, but unfortunately, two new clusters were identified.

Here are the details.

3 Unlinked Cases

Yesterday (21 Jun), five community cases were reported to have been unlinked. However, two have already been linked to previous cases following epidemiological investigations, leaving three yet to be linked. They are:

  • A 33-year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident who works as a nurse at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital but is not involved in direct patient care
  • A 38-year-old female Philippines national who is a foreign domestic worker
  • A 29-year-old male Singaporean who works as a delivery rider with foodpanda

The 29-year-old delivery rider developed a fever and headache on 20 June, and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on the same day, where he was administered both an ART and PCR test.

He was immediately isolated when his ART result came back positive for COVID-19. His PCR test result also came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 21 June.

His serology test result is pending.

115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre Cluster

The cluster at Bukit Merah View market is showing no signs of abating, as five more additions were reported yesterday.

They are:

  • A 37-year-old male Singapore Permanent Resident who works as a chef at Holiday Inn Atrium and a part-time delivery driver for Lalamove Singapore
  • A 71-year-old Singaporean man who is a retiree
  • A 57-year-old Singaporean woman who is currently unemployed
  • A 23-year-old Malaysian woman who works as a stall assistant at Tiong Bahru Yong Tao Hu (56 Eng Hoon Street)
  • A 75-year-old Singaporean woman who is a retiree

The retiree developed a runny nose on 14 June but did not seek medical attention.

Her infection was detected through the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) community surveillance testing for residents of the Bukit Merah View area.

Her serology test result is pending.

She has been fully vaccinated, having received her first dose of the vaccine on 18 March, and the second dose on 8 April.

2 New Clusters

One of the new clusters is at 119 Bukit Merah View, which had two more cases linked to it yesterday (21 Jun), namely:

Other Linked Cases

Two of yesterday (21 Jun)’s community cases were linked to the Case 64264 cluster, originating from a 32-year-old Indonesian woman who is a foreign domestic worker.

The two new cases are:

3 Imported Cases

Besides the 13 community cases, three infections from abroad were detected. They are three Singaporeans who returned from Indonesia, the UAE, and the UK
