It’s been almost two weeks since the index Wuhan virus patient was announced in Singapore, and almost every day, we’ve been receiving bad news.

Two days ago, it was the first local transmissions.

Yesterday, it was the youngest victim.

And today, it’s revealed that two patients’ conditions have worsened, and there’s a case of an infection who’s not a close contact with any confirmed case and has not been in China.

2 New Confirmed Wuhan Virus Cases Today; 1 Doesn’t Know Where He Got Infected Yet

Before anything, here’s an update of yesterday’s cases: the husband of the infected salesperson in Yong Thai Hang is apparently a private hire driver. He had developed symptoms  on 1 February and had visited Tiong Bahru Plaza, Tiong Bahru Market and Beo Crescent Market and Food Centre. However, MOH reiterated that the risk of infection from transient contact, such as on public transport or in public places, is assessed to be low.

Now, moving on to the two new cases today:

One of them is a 27-year-old Singaporean who was in the private business meeting at Grand Hyatt Singapore between 20 to 22 January 2020—a cluster that has also infected three foreigners who are now back in their countries.

The next patient is a 41-year-old Singaporean who has no travel history to China. He had fallen sick on 28 January 2020 and visited a doctor, and went to visit another doctor two days later. Four days later, he was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and was tested positive for the Wuhan virus yesterday at about 11pm.

Unfortunately, it’s so far unknown from whom had he contracted the virus from; MOH is interviewing the patient and his close contacts, and investigating the locations he had recently been to. Hopefully there would be good news tomorrow.

Two Patients’ Conditions Have Worsened

Yesterday, it was reported that every patient is in stable condition though one required oxygen support.

Today’s different.

Out of all the 30 confirmed cases so far, 1 has been discharged. 1 requires oxygen support and 1 is in critical condition, and is therefore in intensive care unit.

MOH did not reveal which patient it is.

As of noon today, there are 147 pending cases. Contact tracing by MOH is still ongoing; out of the 353 close contacts who are still in Singapore, 348 have been contacted. MOH is still trying to contact the other 5 close contacts.

The DORSCON Level is still at yellow.

In the meantime, stay vigilant, and keep yourself in the loop by bookmarking MOH’s website.
