8-year-old Boy Learnt Driving from YouTube so That He Could Buy a Cheeseburger

Do you have a driving license? How long did you take to get it, and how much did you spend? If I told you you could have spent nothing instead of $2,000, and like a day or something instead of 5 months, would you believe me?

Because nobody told this 8-year-old kid from Ohio, USA, and he did exactly that.

Last weekend, witnesses spotted this unnamed 8-year-old boy driving on the road in his parents’ van, and called the cops. Later, the kid and his 4-year-old sister were spotted in a nearby McDonald’s restaurant by a family friend, who then called their grandparents.

I bet you were thinking of either wooing girls or going on road trips with your friends to justify your $2,000 and 5-month-long venture to learn driving. This kid here just needed a delicious cheeseburger to motivate him to get on the road.

According to the local police officer, Jacob Koehler, the child had to drive a mile from his home with his little sister at the back. The route to the McDonald’s had 4 intersections, railroad tracks, and a few right and left turns.

Which he pulled off flawlessly, according to eyewitnesses, keeping to the speed limit and obeying all traffic rules.

How long did it take you to study driving theory?

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the kid had learnt how to drive from YouTube videos, and waited for his parents to fall asleep before stealing the van. He had paid for the McDonald’s with his own piggy-bank.

The McDonald’s drive-through worker assumed the parents were in the back, when in fact the person behind was even younger.

And to think that some of us still failed our driving tests.

Since you’re here, why not check out a video we did on how to pass your driving test in Singapore? We didn’t include the cheeseburger motivation here, but it’s close enough #justsaying
